AI and VFX: the new frontier of digital production passes through practical training
AI for VFX: from artificial intelligence to professional production
Artificial intelligence is transforming the Visual Effects industry, but the real challenge isn't learning to use a single tool. It's understanding how to integrate AI, computer graphics, and professional workflows within a complete production pipeline.
From this need, “AI for VFX”was born, the mentorship program of PXL Mentor: an intensive eight-week course dedicated to artists, creatives, and computer graphics professionals, which accompanies participants in the creation of a complete short film through a hybrid pipeline between traditional VFX and Artificial Intelligence.
Two cohorts, with one starting on November 1, 2026, and the other on February 1, 2027.

Beyond the prompt: AI and professional production
The value of AI in audiovisual production lies not only in the ability to generate images and videos, but in the possibility of accelerating the process while maintaining creative control and technical quality.
The program integrates tools such as ComfyUI, Character Creator, Headshot, Substance Painter, MetaTailor, AccuFACE, iClone and AI Studio, building a workflow that accompanies the project from the conceptual phase to the final rendering.
Participants work on a real project, addressing different stages of production:
Concept and Art Direction
Character creation and development
Modeling and texturing
Performance capture and animation
Camera layout
AI-assisted rendering
Editing and post-production
The hybrid skills of the future
The evolution of the creative industry is increasing the demand for professionals capable of combining artistic, technical and AI skills.
Knowing 3D is not enough, just as knowing how to use generative tools is not enough. It is becoming increasingly important to know how to build efficient workflows, maintain artistic coherence and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
It is precisely in this space that new professional figures are emerging halfway between Technical Artist, AI Artist, VFX Supervisor and Pipeline Developer.
Learning through production
Mentorship focuses onlearning by doing. Participants work in small groups, sharing problems, solutions and progress along the way.
The goal is therefore not only to acquire knowledge of the tools, but to develop a replicable working method, also applicable to future projects.
The integration between AI and VFX represents one of the most interesting transformations for the creative industries: it can allow small teams and individual creators to tackle productions that in the past would have required much larger structures.
For this reason, understanding how to build hybrid pipelines between Artificial Intelligence and digital production can become an increasingly important skill for VFX and computer graphics professionals.
