Animation and Virtual Reality: selections open for the free CSC course

The Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia is expanding its training offerings as part of the Cinecittà Project (funded by the PNRR - NextGenerationEU) with the new Animation in VR workshop. The call is aimed at those who wish to delve deeper into animation techniques within immersive environments, transcending the confines of traditional audiovisual formats.

The course is designed to explore how the movement of objects and characters interacts with virtual space and user perception, focusing on "scenic legibility" within 360-degree contexts.

Organization and participation methods

The workshop focuses on an intensive and accessible formula, with a limited number of places to ensure a high level of learning.

  • Class dates: June 22, 23, 25, 26 and 29, 2026.

  • Course duration: The course will be held entirely remotely.

  • Time commitment: 20 hours in total (8 hours of theory and 12 hours of laboratory practice).

  • Participation: The course is completely free.

  • Available places: The selection is limited to only 6 participants.

Objectives and Educational Program

The program is divided into a theoretical phase dedicated to the principles of movement in VR and a practical phase focused on direct experimentation.

Participants will analyze the relationship between trajectory and point of view, studying how to construct actions consistent with the user's presence in the virtual space. Practical exercises will allow them to test the animation of scenic elements and characters, verifying the quality of movement and visual comfort, crucial aspects for the success of an immersive experience.

Who can apply

Access to the laboratory is subject to possession of some fundamental requirements:

  • Age: Be of legal age on the date of application.

  • Educational qualification: Possession of a secondary school diploma (or equivalent qualification).
