MIA XR 2026: video games, intellectual property and new frontiers of entertainment
From IP to cross-media experiences
In a market increasingly characterized by media convergence, intellectual properties represent a strategic resource for developing new content and commercial opportunities. Films, television series, video games, and immersive experiences can become parts of a narrative ecosystem capable of reaching different audiences.
The 2026 edition of MIA XR addresses these issues through professional meetings, pitching sessions, and networking opportunities, with a particular focus on licensing, strategic partnerships, project financing, and audience development.
Six projects between video games and immersive storytelling
One of the central moments of the program is the MIA XR Demo Area, dedicated to six projects that showcase the variety of contemporary interactive experiences.
Among the selected titles we find Green Inferno, an investigative horror game inspired by Italian cult cinema, and City 20, a survival game set in a secret nuclear city. Added to these are Bud Spencer & Terence Hill – Slaps And Beans 2, a beat 'em up inspired by the famous film duo, and Lo Scuru: A Sicilian Gothic Tale, a visual novel with a folk horror atmosphere.
The selection also includes Antipasti: A Taste of Agile Lens, a collection of immersive experiences ranging from live theater to location-based entertainment, and NORA V-IDOL IMMERSIVE TRAVEL, an experience that combines music, animation, and rhythm games through some of Italy's most evocative locations.
Taken together, these projects highlight how stories can evolve through different languages and formats, from traditional video games to immersive experiences.
MIA XR Talks: Skills and New Forms of Entertainment
The program includes two panels dedicated to the transformations of the creative industry.
How to Build a Successful Career in the Video Game Industry addresses the skills required by the sector, new professional opportunities, and the evolution of recruiting in the age of artificial intelligence.
Participants include professionals from Rovio, Remedy Entertainment, as well as experts in VFX, virtual production, and investment in the video game industry.
The panel Beyond the Screen: The New Frontiers of Entertainmentbroadens the perspective, exploring how stories can transcend screens to transform into live experiences, immersive installations, virtual productions, and interactive projects, including those linked to brands.
Technology enables these new forms of consumption, but it is the audience's experience that determines their value: not just watching a story, but engaging with it and actively participating in it.
A convergence of creativity and technology
MIA XR 2026 highlights how video games, audiovisuals, and extended reality are increasingly sharing tools, skills, and production models.
For development studios and professionals, this convergence opens up new possibilities for collaboration and content valorization.
Real-time technologies, 3D environments, and interactive systems help make these experiences possible, fostering the encounter between technological innovation, creative experimentation, and new business opportunities.
