Unreal Engine 5.7.3: the new Hotfix with over 45 fixes
Epic Games has officially released Unreal Engine 5.7.3 Hotfix, an update primarily focused on stability and bug fixes reported by developers over the past few months.
This release focuses on fundamental quality of life improvements when developing UE5.7projects, with over 45 fixes and updates spread across numerous Unreal modules.
Hotfix Focus
The Unreal Engine team describes this hotfix as a targeted fix for crashes, rendering issues, media errors, and editor workflow anomalies, with the goal of making 5.7 even more reliable for day-to-day development and production.
In particular, many of the fixes address:
Editor and runtime crashes and assertions: Various cases where the editor or engine could crash unexpectedly.
Graphical inconsistencies or visual artifacts related to Lumen, MegaLights, and other rendering systems.
Issues with cloth imports and assets such as incorrect vertex colors or incorrect collision orientations in cloth simulation.
Media playback and timecode synchronization issues for NDI and Media Capture streams.
Minor but impactful bugs in workflows (e.g. 3D text rendering incorrectly, morph targets not returning to the correct state).
These fixes respond to concrete feedback received from the community and data collected through official reports.
Noteworthy Technical Notes
An important reminder included in the release concerns the transition from SDL2 to SDL3 on Linux platforms that began with UE 5.7: customizations based on SDL2 will need to be adapted to work with the new library in the updated version of the engine.
How to Report Bugs
Epic Games encourages developers who still encounter issues in 5.7.3 to submit their reports via the official bug reporting form, following the procedure outlined in the forums.
