Paneurama Report: Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the European Animation, Gaming, and VFX Industries
At the Viborg Animation Festival 2025, Paneurama presented its second annual report: “Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the European Games, Animation, and VFX Industries”, produced in collaboration with Breda University of Applied Sciences (Cradle BUas).
The study, based on 40 interviews across 12 European countries, explores how entrepreneurship is understood, taught, and practiced in the gaming, animation, and VFX sectors.
The findings highlight a paradox: while entrepreneurial skills are universally recognized as strategically important, they rarely feature as central objectives in educational programs.
The report emphasizes that entrepreneurship is not only for start-up founders, but represents a transversal competence essential for freelancers, intrapreneurs, and long-term professionals.
Skills such as adaptability, risk management, opportunity recognition, and resource mobilization are becoming crucial for survival and growth in industries marked by instability and short-term projects.
Through workshops, Innovation Labs, and the new Online SkillBASE, Paneurama is turning research into concrete tools for students, educators, and companies.
And the journey continues: the upcoming 2026 report will examine the impact of emerging technologies – from AI to virtual production – on creative careers and education.
With this publication, Paneurama reaffirms its mission: to strengthen the bridge between education and industry, and to support the competitiveness and cultural sustainability of Europe’s creative industries.
The full report is available on the official Paneurama website.
